Chairman BBMB Inaugurates automation of 220kv Barnala Substation.

Chandigarh: Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) joins the elite club of Power Utilities of India who have converted their conventional substations into remote operated ones by installing state of the art Substation Automation System in 220kV Barnala Substation. This was stated by Er. D K Sharma, Chairman, BBMB today while inaugurating the Remote Operation of 220kV Barnala Substation of BBMB. The inauguration ceremony was held in the premises of 220kV substation of BBMB at Sangrur from where Barnala substation shall be remotely operated.
The project has been completed at a cost of Rs.1.7 crores. Chairman, BBMB highlighted numerous benefits associated with the said project such as increased system reliability on account of quick fault analysis, safety of operation & maintenance staff, reduced down time, monitoring of operations of the substation at remote with the help of high-tech equipment etc.
He further said that keeping in line with the modern trends in the field of transmission system, BBMB has taken up the work of conversion of all of its conventional substations gradually into remote operated ones. Work of providing Substation Automation System along with remote control in respect of BBMB substations located at Hisar, Charkhi Dadri, Ballabgarh and Samaypur has already been initiated.Er.
