Lata remembers Dada Saheb Phalke on his 148th birth anniversary

MUMBAI: Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar has paid a tribute to the Father of Indian cinema, Dada Saheb Phalke on his 148th birth anniversary. The 87-year-old veteran singer took to Twitter where she remembered Phalke.

“Namaskar. Who can forget Dada Saheb Phalke ji, the Father of Indian cinema. Today is his birth anniversary. I offer my respectful greetings to him,” Mangeshkar posted on Twitter.

Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, popularly known as Dadasaheb Phalke, was an Indian producer, director and screenwriter and has one of the country’s most prestigious awards named after him. He gave India its first full-length feature film “Raja Harishchandra” in 1913 and went on to make 95 movies and 26 short films in his career spanning 19 years. Phalke passed away on February 16, 1944 at the age of 73.–PTI
