Panipat firms to make 5 crore blankets for Maha Kumbh

Nearly 500 units in Panipat have received orders from nearly five crore woollen blankets from fair administration, social welfare organizations and wholesale blanker supplier for Maha Kumbh Fair at Prayag in U.P to commence from January 15, 2019 in which nearly 15 crore pilgrims are likely to visit the fair.

Panipat blanket industry expects business of value worth Rs 1000 crore for supply of blankets in this holy fair.

According to sources, Panipat blanket industry received bulk orders for shoddy blankets well in advance and supplied over a lakh blankets well in advance to meet the demand and save ‘Sadhus’ as well as poor visitors from cold weather.

Sources said that fair administration had sufficient funds for the purchase of woollen blankets supplied to visitors in holy fair.

Panipat blanket industry is famous for manufacturing blankets since past seven decades to meet demand of domestic sale in the country as well as exports across the world in huge variety including printed as well as pure wool blankets and in spite of worldwide industrial recession blankets manufactured at Panipat witnessing constant growth every year, the entrepreneurs in this business told that they received maximum orders for 2 kg 200 gm woollen blankets for supply to Maha Kumbh fair costing between Rs 200 to Rs 250 each.

They told that among major consumers of blankets include army, police departments and jails in the country.
