Political pressure behind transfer of U’khand officials: BJP

DEHRADUN: The opposition BJP has alleged that the Harish Rawat-led Uttarakhand government is creating “administrative chaos” in the state by transferring well-performing officials in “quick succession” under “political pressure”.

“Transfer of good civil administration and police officials in quick succession without sufficient grounds under political pressure has created anarchic conditions in the state,” state BJP spokesperson Munna Singh Chauhan alleged.

“People in several districts are hitting the streets against such unwarranted transfers,” he claimed. Asserting that such transfers and postings are being made to “please sulking party leaders”, Chauhan claimed that rattled by revolt from within the party, Chief Minister Harish Rawat is “ready to go to any extent to assuage flared tempers and keep his flock together”. Noting that stability in an official’s career is necessary for him/her to perform well, the BJP spokesperson alleged that by transferring them in quick succession, Rawat is retarding the development of the state. “If well performing officials continue to be transferred as part of a political deal what will happen to the state’s development?” he asked. People in Uttarkashi sat on a dharna recently protesting the transfer of District Magistrate Shridhar Babu Addanki within a month. Udhamsingh Nagar SSP Aanant Shankar Takwale was transferred to Ramanagar and brought back within a fortnight. Similarly, District Magistrate Akshat Gupta was transferred recently. Chauhan claimed that apart from provoking public anger, transfer of police officials without sufficient reasons had also not gone down well even with DGP M A Ganpati. — PTI Naughty, tongue-in-cheek steps suit Salman well: Farah Khan NEW DELHI: Farah Khan has created another peppy dance number in “Baby ko Bass Pasand Hai” from “Sultan” and the director-choreographer says she likes working with Salman Khanas he carries off naughty steps well. Farah, who has worked with Salman a number of times be it “Munni badnaam” or “Fevicol Se”, says she always tries to give him a signature step. “I have worked with Salman for quite sometime now. I always give him a signature move that I know will become popular and only Salman can do it. “He can carry off naughty, slightly tongue-in-cheek steps really well. He is a joy to work with as there is a lot of ‘masti’ on the sets and good food from his home,” Farah told PTI in an interview. The “Happy New Year” director said producer Aditya Chopra called her to choreograph the number that takes place during a wedding. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the movie has Salman and Anushka Sharma playing Wrestlers from Haryana. “Sultan” is releasing on July 6 and is produced by Yash Raj Films. The ace choreographer says she was initially not supposed to do the number but she could not say no when Aditya called her. “I was not supposed to be doing the song. Adi asked me whether I could come and do it this. I was working with Abbas for the first time. It was good that we got along so well.” Farah says she has no particular preference when it comes to choreographing songs but enjoys challenges. “This was fun with Salman and Anushka… It is a marriage song. Situation was not that unusual but then it makes it more difficult because you have to recreate something unusual. “We had five days but we finished in four… Salman learns quickly and the director was clear about what he wanted. It was fun. — PTI
