20000 suspected cancer patients attended at OPD in Atal Cancer Care Centre in a year at Ambala

Ambala: While talking to media persons here Haryana Health & Home Minister Anil Vij said that Haryana is first state in the country having government Cancer Care Centre inside the Civil Hospital Ambala Cantt known as his dream project and now another  project for setting up a hospital for the treatment of Tuberculosis (TB) patients has been approved at Ambala City where construction for the building would start shortly. It would be one of the biggest TB Hospitals in the state, he added. Dr  Yash Pal of Atal Cancer Care Centre told media persons that the hospital is getting cancer patients not only from Haryana state but also from neighbouring states Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, U.P, Rajasthan, Delhi and Chandigarh also. He said, we have also treated two patients who arrived from Nepal and Mauritius.
Dr Yash Pal said that Atal Cancer Care Centre inside the civil hospital is first government hospital in the state for the treatment of cancer, which was inaugurated in May 2022 and in a short span of hardly 13 months attended 20000 suspected cancer patients at the OPD in which conducted 3000 cases of  ‘kemot-herapy,’ nearly 600 cancer patients were treated with the help of radiation and conducted over 300 successful cases of surgery in this period. Dr Yash Pal said that cancer patients have to spend huge amounts of money for the treatment of cancer disease at a private hospital, whereas free treatment is being provided to cancer patients in this hospital.

According to  Dr Pooja Sharma, an expert in treatment of breast cancer in women told that large number of female patients suffering from breast cancer have been treated in this hospital in pthe ast about a year with the help of ‘Mammography’ treatment. She said that mostly females above age 50 suffer from breast cancer, but about three months ago they admitted female patients of age between 27 and 28 suffering from breast cancer. Dr Pooja Sharma advised that in case of early detection of cancer in the breast, it can be easily cured by ‘Mammography’ process. She advised, initially a female suffering from breast cancer feels a hard knot (lump) inside the breast and in such cases should contact a doctor immediately to get her life saved. She told that many females on finding  hard knot or knots inside the breast do not disclose to any one in the family or a friend out of shyness and later when approach a doctor it is generally too late.
