42 cyber cheaters arrested in two days, 102 fake SIMs recovered & 70000 mobile phones blocked in 11 months

Nuh Police in Haryana state nabbed 42 cyber criminals in past two days on Saturday and Sunday, recovered 50 mobile phones and 102 fake SIMs during raids in a major crackdown against rampant cybercrime in Mewat region, the Nuh police led by SP Narender Bijarnia nabbed 30 cyber criminals in two days. While talking to media persons SP said that these cyber criminals were functioning on the basis of fake documents, fake internet media profiles, fake bank accounts cheating people across the country. The police arranged an entire force to conduct raids in around 20 villages and nabbed the accused and managed to trace through the Pratibimb app. All accused have been booked by the local cyber-crime police station wanted for frauds across the country involving purchasing goods online based on fake documents, fake social media profiles, fake bank accounts, sextortion, giving tempting ads for purchasing animals, availability of cheap vehicles, inviting facebook friends, offering jobs and advertising goods etc.

Mewat region spanning across Haryana, Rajasthan is popularly known as Jamtara of North. According to a spokesperson of cyber-crime police station Nuh, the Pratibimb app helps not just to mark the number used in cyber-crime but also trace the user and number of cases he is involved in. He said, a special campaign was held and they are verifying the crime records of the accused and soon will be getting in touch with concerned state police where they have carried out frauds. He said, many accused have numerous frauds to their credit. Raiding teams were able to detect a few known cyber criminals identified as Deen Mohd, Aasif, Aarif, Sarfraz, Saqib, Izaran, Minazir of Rajasthan on the basis of location traced by the cyber police.

Meanwhile, DGP Haryana Shatrujit Kapoor disclosed that in the past 11 months more than 70000 mobile phone numbers have been blocked  and investigation is going on in large numbers of mobile phones involved in cyber crimes. Amit Dahiya SP Crime Cell disclosed that in complaints during the month February this year in which complaints were received within six hours, nearly 60% of the amount lost in crimes was frozen in the banks by the department’s immediate action. DGP also held a meeting with the senior police officers at his Panchkula office in which 60 hot spot areas were identified. He said that in the  month February this year Rs 15 crore 50 lakh amount was saved in such frauds and in the month March Rs 6.67 crore was saved in early days from fraud due to timely action by the cyber crime department.
