599.9 grams Gold valued at Rs 33,71,438 seized at SGRDJI Airport

Amritsar, January 13 – The Customs Department in Amritsar has seized smuggled Gold having value Rs 33,71,438.

Commissioner of Customs, Rahul Nangare in a statement issued here today stated that  on January 12, one passenger arriving from Australia via Singapore by Scoot Airlines was intercepted on the basis of profiling and suspicious movements by Customs officers at Shri Guru Ramdas ji  International (SGRDJI) Airport, Amritsar.

On carrying out his personal search, raw gold weighing 599.9 grams of 24 Carat in the shape of five Kadas (bangles)  valued at Rs. 33,71,438/- was recovered. The same has been seized under the relevant sections of the Customs Act. Further investigation is in progress, he informed.
