Large number of old-age pensioners, including senior officers of IAS and IPS ranks retired from Haryana government services have been found getting monthly amount of pension wrongfully since past several years, according to inverstigation by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Haryana state. Punjab and Haryasna Court has taken a serious view of the same and handed over investigation to CBI to register FIRs against those involved in cheating government since a long time in-spite of the fact many of them were already died since past many years ago.
According to the status report submitted by ACB to Punjab and Haryana High Court in September 2022 as many as 13479  retired government employees including many senuior officers even of the IAS and IPS ranks were found receiving amount of pension worth crores of rupees after their retirement wrongfully, whereas large number of them have already been found receiving pension amount every month in-spite of the fact they were expired long ago as observed during investigation by ACB and they were receiving pension amount every month illegally.
Information also reveals that amount worth about Rs 7.57 crore has to be recovered from 6722 pensioners in Haryana state obtained amount wrongfully. Amount worth Rs 4.58 crore was recovered by the government, but after the year 2018 no amount has been recovered from the pensioners cheating state government in-spite of the fact 18420 persons were detected getting pension amount illegally, 41198 persons were found untraced but getting pension amount in their bank accounts regularly whereas 29381 persons were found  already died years ago.
Punjab and Haryana High Court took a serious view over the status report submitted by the ACB,  blaming officers of Social Welfare Department in the state allegedly neglected their duties and taken no action on such a large number of embezzlements, and conducted verification of the pensioners getting amount from time to time wrongfully. Court directed stern action against those pensioners getting pension amount amounts wrongfully as well as government officers responsible for irregularities in their duty for such a long time. Court directed Anti Corruption Bureau to register FIRs against those involved in frauds and also take action against irresponsible government staff as well as village Sarpanches and Municipal Councillors made fake verifications as regard pensioners getting pension amount in-spite of the fact they died long ago.
According to information, during ACB investigation it was observed that nearly 14000 pensioners are getting pension every month wrongfully in Kurukshetra district alone in Haryana state and most of them have already been died long ago list of those have been forwarded to CBI for further action and recoveries of the amount.
