Ambala: In the Save Constitution campaign in Ambala on Sunday, Congress leaders launched a massive attack on the policies of the central and state governments. The Congress Party organised a Save Constitution campaign at a Banquet Hall in Ambala city paid tribute to the citizens martyred in Pahalgam by observing two minutes of silence, followed by launching an attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. Lok Sabha MP Deepender Hooda, state president Udaybhan and the organiser of the programme Ambala city MLA and former minister Chaudhary Nirmal Singh targeted the BJP’s double standards regarding the water crisis, the condition of constitutional institutions and people’s rights. Lok Sabha MP Deepender Hooda, while showering questions on BJP said, how did Punjab’s single engine overpower Haryana’s dual engine government? If the Chandigarh engine is shut down, then why is Delhi’s engine not able to draw water?

Taking the government to task, Deepender Hooda said that the BJP government’s indecisive attitude on important issues like SYL canal is the reason for the plight of Haryana’s farmers. Demanding a special session of the Assembly, Hooda said that time should be taken to meet the Prime Minister by taking all the MPs along. He said sarcastically, “We have been waiting to meet the Prime Minister for the last nine and a half years, but this government is only running the vehicle of false promises, whereas there is no work on the track. ” The basic spirit of the Constitution is being crushed”, Congress State President Udaybhan expressed concern over the current state of the Constitution in his address and said, there is an atmosphere of undeclared emergency in the country. “The dignity of constitutional institutions is being lowered and the politics of hatred is prevalent. Today the same people are invoking the Constitution, who had once burnt its copies,” Udaybhan said that the basic spirit of the Constitution through which Baba Saheb Ambedkar gave equal rights to everyone, is being crushed today. The Congress Party will fight at every level to protect the Constitution and will make the public aware and stand against this dictatorial thinking.

” Every promise of BJP is limited to speeches only,” Former minister and Ambala city MLA Chaudhary Nirmal Singh took the BJP to task and said, the government which is wasting Haryana’s water at the feet of Punjab is now shedding crocodile tears for Haryana’s rights. Every promise of BJP is limited to speeches only, there is nothing on the ground.” He said sarcastically, “The BJP which did politics on water is now drying up due to political thirst itself. This government could neither save water, nor trust, nor constitutional dignity. The people of Haryana will soon give an answer to the government which silently bowed down before Punjab.” Deepender Hooda prepared the strategy; gave instructions MPs will march to Delhi to provide water to Haryana. Information reveals, former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and his MP son Deepender Hooda have made a strategy to instill enthusiasm in Congress workers. Congress MPs will march to Delhi and put pressure on the central government to get Haryana its share of water. Deepender Hooda will lead this movement and also organize a ‘Save Constitution’ program in which all the MLAs are participating.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and MP Deepender Hooda have intensified efforts to instil enthusiasm among party leaders and workers who are disappointed with the results of the assembly elections. During a dinner organised in Chandigarh on Saturday night, Hooda and Deepender met all the MLAs and MPs of their party and instructed them to enter the field with renewed vigour. It was decided that all Congress MPs will gather in New Delhi to protest against the Punjab government refusing to give Haryana its share of water. It is likely that on May 6, MPs Deepender Singh Hooda, Jaiprakash JP, Varun Mulana and Satpal Brahmachari may meet the central government in this regard. A dharna can also be organized at some place in New Delhi itself, so that pressure can be created on the Central and Haryana governments to put pressure on Punjab to give Haryana its share of water. This entire movement and program is going to be led by MP Deepender Singh Hooda in which MP Kumari Selja can also be asked to attend this program.

Former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda had attended the all-party meeting called by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday itself. In the meeting, Hooda had assured the Haryana government that the Congress is with them for the interests of the state. The BJP should not only take its share of water from BBMB, but also urge the Centre to intervene for the construction of the SYL canal. The Supreme Court has given its verdict on SYL in favour of Haryana thrice. It is observed that Congress workers are full of enthusiasm. Haryana Congress President Chaudhary Udaybhan, former political advisor Prof. Virendra Singh, Organization General Secretary Jagdeep Dhankhar and former Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislature Party Chaudhary Aftab Ahmed expressed satisfaction that Congress MLAs are forgetting their factionalism and participating in Congress programs without any differences. Congress is organising ‘Save Constitution’ programmes and rallies across the state, in which Congress strategists are considering the participation of Hooda supporters as well as Selja supporters, believing that the phase of despair is over and we have to move ahead with renewed vigour, prominent Congress leaders said.
