Amritsar: The five members committee which was formed after December 2, 2024 edict of Akal Takht,  today unanimously elected the former Jathedar Akal Takht Gyani Harpreet Singh as President of Shriomani Akali Dal here today.

At the same time, Bibi Satwant Kaur was appointed Chairperson of the Panthak Council. 

However, the election process was held at ‘Burj Akali Baba Phoola Singh’. However, SGPC had earlier refused to provide the “Teja Singh  Samundari Hall’ venue located in the SGPC complex for elections to the breakaway  Akali Dal due to political reasons.

Nevertheless to say that Gyani Harpreet Singh would be the president of Breakaway Shriomani Akal Dal, since Sukhbir Singh Badal the former Deputy chief minister of Punjab who is currently president of Shriomani Akali Dal ( Badal) would claim that the Akali led by him was the real Akali Dal.
