New Delhi: At the headquarters of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, an important interfaith dialogue was organized under the banner of Dharmik Jan Morcha on the issue of increasing moral decline in the country. The event was attended by leaders and representatives from various religions.

On this occasion, Dharmik Jan Morcha President Prof. Salim Engineer, in his presidential address, said: “The root cause of moral decline in society is that human beings are moving away from their religion and from God. It is the duty of religious leaders to join hands to save the nation from moral and spiritual degeneration. Moral decline is the root of most evils in our country. We must continuously strive to raise our moral standards in the light of religious teachings.”

Speaking on behalf of Sanatan Dharma, Swami Sushil Goswami Maharaj said: “All of us living in this country are brothers. Everyone follows their own faith, but no religion teaches hatred. We must work together for the development of the nation.”

From the Sikh faith, Gyani Mangal Singh, referring to the Guru Granth Sahib, stated: “Brotherhood and equality are essential for the progress of society. Such programs should be organized on a large scale to bring awareness among the people.”

Representing Christianity, Father Norbert Hermann, while highlighting the teachings of the Bible, said: “Love God and love your neighbor – this is the teaching of the Bible. We must treat others in the same way as we want others to treat us.”
