Launch AI Center of Excellence to drive global benchmark in financial inclusion

New Delhi: India’s digital public infrastructure is taking another leap forward. Sahamati Labs, the innovation arm of Sahamati (the industry alliance driving the Account Aggregator (AA) ecosystem), has partnered with Google Cloud India to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the Account Aggregator (AA) framework, a first-of-its-kind initiative that could redefine how millions of Indians access safe, inclusive, and efficient financial services. At the heart of this collaboration is the launch of an AI Center of Excellence (CoE), dedicated to building scalable AI-led solutions across lending, insurance, and wealth management, while positioning India’s AA model as a global reference point for AI-driven financial inclusion.

India has already set global benchmarks with UPI and Aadhaar. The Account Aggregator (AA) framework, currently enabling consent-based financial data sharing for over 2.12+ billion accounts, is poised to become the next global model. With AI woven into its design, Sahamati Labs and Google Cloud aim to strengthen trust, expand accessibility, and accelerate innovation in digital finance, ensuring reach from urban centers to the most remote villages.

This collaboration leverages Google Cloud’s generative AI capabilities that enables the development of advanced models for predictive insights, personalized recommendations, and sophisticated fraud detection to accelerate India’s financial future. Given the critical need for secure, consent-based data sharing within the Account Aggregator (AA) framework, Google Cloud’s data privacy-preserving portfolio will allow sensitive data to be shared with full confidentiality and privacy. Furthermore, Google Cloud’s strong support for Indian languages across its AI services directly advances the goal of Inclusion at scale, effectively helping to overcome literacy and language barriers to democratize access to financial services.
