One regular govt job to each family within 20 months
PATNA: The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar today released the Election Manifesto promising one permanent government job to at least one member of each and every family in the state that does not already have a government employee within 20 months of formation of the government.
The manifesto was released in Patna today in the presence of Mahagathbandhan Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav, senior Congress leader and Chairman of the AICC Media and Publicity Department Pawan Khera, Dipankar Bhattacharya of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), Mukesh Sahani of the Vikassheel Insaan Party and other prominent leaders.
The Mahagathbandhan leaders announced that their manifesto, unlike the promises of the NDA, includes issues, which touch each and every person in Bihar.
The manifesto also promises to restore the Old Pension Scheme and regularise the Jeevika Didis in rural areas as permanent employees, besides regularising all contractual and outsourced employees working with the government. Under the Mai-Behin Maan Yojana, women will receive financial assistance of Rs 2,500 per month from December 1, and Rs 30,000 per year for the next five years. Every family will receive 200 units of free electricity, the manifesto added. To raise the 50 per cent reservation limit in proportion to the population, a law passed by the state legislature will be sent to the Central Government for inclusion in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution, the manifesto said.
The manifesto has special mention about setting up ‘Special Economic Zones’, IT parks and encouraging and promoting the dairy and agro-based industries.
Speaking on the occasion, Tejashwi Yadav described the manifesto as the INDIA bloc’s roadmap for the progress and development in Bihar and a resolve to make the state number one in the country in terms of overall performance across various sectors.
Pawan Khera said that the Mahagathbandhan was the first among all political formations in Bihar to announce its Chief Ministerial candidate and also release its election manifesto. He said, this shows the seriousness of the Grand Alliance towards Bihar. He said the manifesto was drafted after a thoughtful process that involved consultations with all stakeholders. “Our leaders, Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, instructed us to declare only what we can achieve… We held discussions with various sections of society, and then the manifesto was prepared,” he added.
Khera said that the manifesto would serve as a guiding document for the Mahagathbandhan government to bring Bihar back on the path of progress and development. He added that the state has fallen behind by 20 years in terms of overall growth and development. Maintaining that the manifesto was a sacred document, he noted, it was released on an auspicious day, coinciding with the conclusion of the holy Chhath Puja.
