Municipal Corporation Chandigarh  takes a historic initiative in the interest of sanitation workers

Chandigarh: On the occasion of New Year 2026, the Door-to-Door Garbage Collection Society met with senior officials of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh and extended their best wishes. Society President Dharamvir Rana and his team presented bouquets to Municipal Commissioner Amit Kumar, Special Commissioner Pradeep Kumar, Joint Commissioner Himanshu Gupta, and Medical Health Officer Inderjit Kaur, extending their New Year greetings.

On this occasion, the Municipal Corporation administration announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for door-to-door garbage collectors working in markets and commercial areas. This is being considered an important and historic step in the interests of sanitation workers, strengthening their rights and future security.

Garbage collectors expressed their gratitude to Commissioner Amit Kumar and his team upon receiving the MOU. Society President Dharamveer Rana said that this step taken by the Municipal Corporation demonstrates the administration’s commitment to the welfare of sanitation workers.

He said that the Municipal Corporation team, under the leadership of Commissioner Amit Kumar, is continuously doing commendable work in the interest of sanitation workers, which is worthy of praise. Finally, the society wished all officials a Happy New Year 2026 and reiterated its resolve to keep the city clean, beautiful, and healthy.
