To maintain law and order in the state before Holi, Haryana Police conducted a massive operation under ‘Operation Akram-21’ and arrested 1,048 accused. The operation was carried out on March 2, 2026.
Panchkula: Haryana government has finalized the departmental structure of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in which two Police stations to be opened in Gurugram and Panchkula. Information reveals, a total of 575 posts will be recruited, including 481 regular and 94 contract positions with a budget provision of Rs 35 crore for the proposed ATS. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini while talking to media persons announced the opening of two ATS police stations in Gurugram and Panchkula. The financial powers will be exercised under the Punjab Financial Rules (as applicable to Haryana) and an IG-level officer will control the same with the help of the Superintendent of Police (SP) will head the ATS headquarters office. Deputation from the police, FSL, prosecution and finance departments, as well as members of the anti-sabotage squad and bomb disposal squad contract staff will be recruited, Significantly, under the proposed anti-terrorism service structure, police officers from constable to DSP rank deployed in the proposed ATS staff will receive a special allowance of 30 percent of their basic pay.
As per information, an IGP-level officer will lead the ATS. This will be followed by four IPS officers of the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) will be given the responsibility of Superintendent of Police (SP), nine Deputy Superintendents will be appointed, one Deputy District Attorney, two Assistant District Attorneys, one Assistant Director (Ballistics) and two Senior Scientific Officers will be appointed. Apart from this, one post for Scientific Assistant (Explosives) and one for Lab Assistant (Explosives) have been allocated in the ATS. Among other staff will include one post for Section Officer (Accounts), one Office Superintendent and two Deputy Superintendents have been designated. In the Other Staff category, one Personal Assistant, four Assistants, eight Clerks and three Senior Scale Stenographers have been designated. In the Exclusive Clerical Cadre, the posts of 1 Inspector, 1 Sub-Inspector, 2 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 4 Head Constables, 8 Constables, 1 Sub-Inspector (Accounts), 1 Assistant Sub-Inspector Accounts, 2 Head Constable Accounts and 4 Constable Accounts will be kept.
According to a spokesperson of the state police department the General Category of the ATS will include 17 Inspectors, 20 Sub-Inspectors, 70 Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 120 Head Constables and 186 Constables. There will be 94 contract positions, these include the posts of System Administrator (Senior System Analyst), Digital Forensic Examiner (System Analyst), Networking Surveillance and Offensive Interception Specialist (System Analyst), Programmer/Data Analyst for ATS Horse and ATS PSS, Cartographer, Cook, ATS PS Water Carrier, Sweeper, Gardener, ATS Headquarters and Peon in headquarter and ATS police stations.

In this special operation, 1,460 teams of 7,471 police personnel conducted simultaneous raids across the state. Information reveals that 461 cases were registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code, NDPS, Excise and Arms Acts. Through this campaign, the police sent a clear message that no illegal activity will be tolerated during the festivals. Director General of Police Ajay Singhal stated that law and order is a top priority in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. He added that such special campaigns are a testament to the zero-tolerance policy against criminals. 299 FIRs were registered under the Excise Act and 293 accused were arrested. Police recovered large quantities of foreign and country liquor, beer, and 8,276 liters of raw liquor.
46 FIRs were registered under the NDPS Act and 41 accused were arrested. Police recovered narcotics, including marijuana, opium, heroin, smack, hashish, and sulpha, along with pills and capsules. 16 accused were arrested, and 19 cases were registered under the Arms Act. 20 country-made pistols and 11 cartridges were recovered. A total of 67 wanted criminals were apprehended, including 61 proclaimed offenders (POs), 101 bail jumpers, 5 most wanted, 1 wanted criminal, 1 cyber criminal, and 1 heinous criminal. 68 non-bailable and 48 arrest warrants were also executed.
