Acid Attack horror in Gurugram: Woman critical after man throws acid at Civil Hospital

Gurugram: In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly attacked with acid inside the premises of the district civil hospital in Gurugram on Sunday evening, leaving her critically injured with severe burns on her face and other parts of the body.

The victim, a resident of Nuh district, had come to Subhash Nagar in Gurugram to meet her maternal aunt. 

According to preliminary information, a young man from Nuh followed her to the area and confronted her, leading to an argument between the two.

During the altercation, the accused allegedly assaulted the woman. Following the dispute, her family members took her to the district civil hospital for treatment.

However, in a chilling turn of events, the accused allegedly reached the hospital around 8:30 pm and threw acid on the woman before fleeing from the spot.

Hospital staff rushed the victim to the emergency ward. Considering the severity of her injuries, doctors referred her to Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), Rohtak for advanced treatment. Her condition is stated to be critical.

Police from Sector-10 police station reached the hospital after receiving information about the attack and launched an investigation. Officials said the victim’s statement has not yet been recorded due to her critical condition and no FIR had been registered till late Sunday night. Police said further action will be taken once the victim is able to give her statement. The accused is currently absconding and efforts are underway to identify and trace him
