Action taken against two jewelers in Jind sold 276 grams of fake hallmark gold jewellery

JIND: 276 grams of gold jewellery with fake hallmark was seized by Bureau of Indian Standards team who aided two jewellers on Tuesday and seized 150 gm gold ornaments carrying fake hallmark from Pehalwan Jewellers and 126 gm fake hallmark gold ornaments from Pal Jewellers. Information reveals, when the  Bureau team of comprising of senior officers Anant Kumar, Navita Yadav and Saurabh Chander raided the jewellers the news spread and all jewellers immediately closed down their shutters and left.

Director, Haryana of Indian Standard Bureau Ramesh said that violation of Section 15 of Rule 2016 as regard purity of gold ornaments is a serious offence having stern action against the accused selling fake branded jewellery carrying one year’s imprisonment, heavy fine or both for cheating buyers, selling fake hallmark brand gold ornaments.

Jewellers have remained in controversy in Haryana state in the past also. An attempt was made to rob two jewelers by assaulting them. Sometime ago, a woman from Jind targeted some jewellers in Panipat and Jind which included Paramhans Jewellers, Saraswati Jewellers, Gumji Jewellers and Prince Jewellers of Jind. The woman showed her gold and silver jewellery and asked for it to be repaired or replaced, but later it was found out that the jewellery was fake and later the woman was arrested on charges of duping jewellers by giving fake jewellery on 21st July this year.
