Naraingarh (Ambala): A man identified his name Ravi Mishra residing in the UK befriended a woman on an online marriage site. developed friendship and started corresponding with each other and finally decided to marry. According to information the male duped her of Rs 1 lakh 31 thousand on the pretext of marriage. The woman said that Ravi had told her that he was a resident of the UK. Police have registered a case on the complaint of fraud by the woman in the name of marriage and started investigation. Trusting an unknown person for marriage Preeti, a resident of Naraingarh was deceived by the cunning person and lost Rs 1 lakh 31 thousand by him. She has now been trapped in debt and has lost all her savings. When the woman told this to her known persons and came to know that it was all a fraud. The Cyber police station has registered a case and started taking action.

In her complaint, the woman said that she had created an ID on an online marriage site, but later deleted it. After some time she received a call in which she was told that this number was taken from the marriage site. The youth on the other side identified himself as Ravi Mishra, a resident of Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and has been living in the UK for the last five years. The victim woman took all the information about him, who said that he is also divorced like her and has two children. The conversation continued and both of them were also made to talk to their respective parents. Ravi said that he is coming to India on 13th or 14th April and both of them will get married. Mom and Dad are going to Dubai. There is a flight from the  UK to Mumbai and I will call you after coming to Mumbai. The woman said that it is okay. The woman in her complaint said that on the morning of April 8, a call came that he had arrived at Mumbai airport and ‘sir’ wants to talk to you.

The person introduced himself as Vikram Goswami and asked if she was his wife. She told him that they were getting married soon. The person said that there were some formalities that had to be completed. He was an agent and they had to pay Rs 19,000 because they had brought a lot of jewellery and the British pounds could not be exchanged right now. He said, if the payment is not made, then income tax will have to be paid, otherwise it will have to be handed over to the CBI. Somehow, Rs 19,000 were transferred to the account number mentioned. After this, the fraudsters made an excuse and got 47 thousand rupees transferred again. Later, another call came and they demanded another 1.31 lakh rupees. The woman said that she cannot pay that much money. Later, another call came and they asked for Rs 65,000, and If the payment is not made, Ravi cannot come out. She borrowed this amount and gave it. Police investigation revealed that it was all a fraud, but by then these cunning people had already extorted an amount worth Rs 1 lakh 31 thousand from the woman having a desire to settle abroad. The police have started further investigation.
