Amid wind of promises, politics hots up in Jind ahead of polls

As the date of polling for Jind by-elections gets closer, the constituency is turning into a centre of politics in the state, attracting crowd of leaders from different political parties across the state to support their candidate.

The residents are having number of rallies by different political parties at prominent places with colourful banners, party flags and new faces to attract nearly 1.70 lakh voters making assurances if win this seat in the constituency.

All hotels, inns and guest houses in the town are packed with the visitors across the state arrived for poll promotion of their party candidate.

While talking to The Financial World, every contestant assured victory in his favour. Congress candidate told that he is having support of all senior Congress leaders including Bhupinder Singh Hooda former Chief Minister, Deepender Hooda MP, Kiran Choudhary senior leader, Ashok Tanwar HPCC President and former Union Minister Shelja also Rajya Sabha member addressing his rallies in the constituency.

Digvijay Chautala contesting polls first time on behalf newly launched political party Jan Nayak Janta Party (JJP) was seen confident for the victory due to alliance between Jaat, Brahman and Vaish communities after assured support by Naveen Jai Hind state president and Arvind Kejriwal of Aam Aadmi Party. The thinking of both parties resemble to finish corruption jointly.

Digvijay Chautala said that foundation of JJN was laid at Jind and he is happy to contest from this constituency his first Vidhan Sabha poll. When asked why he decided to contest from Jind constituency, Chautala said that past scenario reveals that politics in the state always starts from Jind constituency and he is lucky to start his political career from this place.

When questioned who would be your prime competitor in this poll battle and on what issues you are contesting the poll, Chautala said that he is not having competition with any competitor from rival parties in this poll race because of contesting polls for self vested political interests least bothered for the welfare of Jind residents.

When questioned about people blaming division and clash in Chautala family, Digvijay said, it is not a family clash but a conflict between principles and issues. Changing the topic Digvijay said that none of the political party ever taken care of farmers and labours in this Vidhan Sabha constituency but tried to divided the communities  for self-vested interest in past.

About division of Jaat votes between three Jaat contestants in Jind poll battle, Digvijay said he does not believe in caste and religion politics as his father Dr Ajay Chautala, mother Naina and brother Dushyant are having full support of each and every community in the constituency.

He said, in case his party wins elections its mission would be to fight against crimes and increasing drugs addiction among youths in the area, besides creating beneficial policies for farmers and labourers.

On his heavyweight contestants of rival political parties, Digvijay said that BJP candidate Krishan Midha migrated from INLD to BJP lacks political status and a party having no  candidate of its own how would be able to contest polls in this powerful Vidhan Sabha constituency.

Pointing out at Congress candidate Randeep Surjewala, Digvijay compared him with a Chinese light, which according to him would lose shine after short period and get fused. When asked about INLD candidate Umed Singh Redhu, Digvijay said that INLD has been completely collapsed after JJP separated from INLD to form an independent party.

While having a talk with BJP candidate Krishan Midha, on asking why he is contesting polls on behalf of BJP when his father was INLD MLA in this constituency for nine years, Midha said, BJP policies convinced him to contest polls and complete all developmental projects in the constituency left incomplete by my father.

When asked if he would be in a position to face heavyweight political leaders contesting against him being new in politics, Midha said that though he is contesting polls first time but he learnt politics from his father.

He said that the faces contesting poll against him are misusing Jind Vidhan Sabha constituency, which have been severely neglected in past years by former governments ruled in the state, Midha said, old political faces from Congress and INLD used Jind merely for political rallies. He said, under the guidance of BJP I will try to bring more and more developmental projects in the constituency.

When asked being Punjabi contestant how he would be in a position to face rival Jaat contestants in Jaat Land when he is not likely to get support from Vaish voters also, Midha replied, he doesn’t believe in community politics and during Jaat reservation violence in the state no untoward incident was reported from Jind.

He was confident to have support and blessings from every community in the constituency like his father. On asking about his major rival contestant, Midha said, Congress candidate is an outsider not faithful to the people of his present Kaithal constituency how one can expect that he would be faithful to the people in Jind constituency. Midha continued that JJP candidate hails from Sirsa, whereas “I am available to the residents of constituency round the clock”. Pointing at Diugvijay Chautala, Midha said that when a person is not faithful to his grand parents how you expect him faithful to the residents of his constituency.

When asked on what issues you would focus in case you win polls was the last question when Midha replied that Chief Minister Manohar Lal KhattAr has gifted projects related to Sewerage, drinking water, disposal of drain water, construction of roads, power supply and garbage disposal worth crores of rupees across the state and his main focus would be to make available these projects to the people of his constituency if he is given the opportunity.
