New Delhi: Professor Gourab Ballav, spokesperson for the BJP and economist, has been appointed as a member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council (PMEAC). The PMEAC provides significant advice to the Prime Minister on various economic and developmental issues, both domestic and global. Professor Ballav brings a wealth of academic and professional experience to this role, having taught economics at several prestigious management institutes in India (IIM) and international universities.

The leader of Congress stated that his nomination is a result of recent shifts in political allegiance. Previously, he was associated with Congress and criticised the economic policies of the BJP. Earlier this year, when the central leadership of Congress decided to boycott the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple, Professor Ballav took a stand against that decision and joined the BJP.
