Black Fungus cases rise in Haryana,20 beds reserved in each medical college

CHANDIGARH (Satish Handa) : According to information,  on an average nearly 50 cases of  patients suffering from ‘Black Fungus’ are reported in Haryana state every day and total number of patients has been identified 421 in 16 districts in the state so far, which include 149 at Gurugram, 88 at Hisar, 50 at Faridabad,  38 at Sirsa, 26 at Rohtak, 20 at Bhiwani, 17 at Karnal,  15 at Panipat, 11 each at Ambala and Fatehabad, 7 at Panchkula, 6 at Sonipat, 5 at Rewari, 2 at Jind and one each at Yamunanagar and Palwal. Information also reveals that as many as eight patients suffering from Black Fungus has been reported died so far in the state, which include three patients at Gurugram, four patients at Sirsa and one patient at Sonepat.

Expressing worry, state health minister Anil Vij said that cases of Black Fungus epidemic outbreak is fast increasing in the state, however state health department has stocks of 1250 ‘Anfoterisin-B’ injections required for the treatment of Black Fungus patients and has already sent requirement for another 12000 injections from government in the centre. He said , the number of patients reported in NCR areas is more and yet no case of disease has been reported from Nuh, Kaithal, Jhajjar, Kurukshetra, Charkhi Dadri and Narnaul districts.

Anil Vij said, all CMOs in the state has been directed that patients suffering from Black Fungus should be referred for treatment to medical colleges in the area near the districts at PGI Chandigarh, Shaheed Hasan Khan Government Meical University at Nalhad,  SGT Medical College  & Hospital Budheda,  Bhagat Phool Singh Government Women Health University at Khanpur Kalan, , NC Medical College at Israna, Maharaja Agarsen Health University at Agroha and Kalpana Chawla  Government Heaslth University at Karnal.
