Gurugram: More than 40 Mauritian citizens who had come for health treatment were found living without verification in a guest house located in Sector 31, Gurugram since the past few days. A case has been registered against the Omka Medical guest house operator Ravi Kumar under the Foreigners Act allegedly not informed the district administration and had not filled Form-C . According to rules, Police verification is mandatory if the stay is for more than a week, especially when the police was cautious in view of the war like situation between India and Pakistan, and thorough investigation being done in the hotels, PGs and restaurants of the city. Although all of them had come to Gurugram from Mauritius for treatment, but police station registered a case against the guest house operator under the Foreigners Act for accommodating foreign nationals without informing the administration. However, during investigation it was found that all of them are residents of Mauritius and had come to Gurugram for treatment recently and the administration was not informed about the accommodation of these foreign nationals by guest house as such a case was filed against the guest house operator, since police verification is mandatory if the stay is for more than a week.
Information reveals, on Friday itself, District Magistrate Ajay Kumar had issued instructions to cyber cafes, PGs, guest houses, hotels, landlords, offices under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code 2023, keeping in mind the security reasons in the current situation. They were instructed to keep a record of every visitor and tenant in the register. They were also asked to keep a photocopy of their identity card in the record. If a foreigner has to stay for more than a week, it is mandatory to get police verification done in Gurugram. If someone violates the orders, action is taken against him.
