Case should be registered against culprits including CM in case of police attack on Sultanpur Lodhi Gurdwara: SGPC

*For being guilty of religious conduct, Bhagwant Mann should immediately

Amritsar : In the special meeting of members of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) held today, a resolution was passed in the case of police entering Gurdwara Sri Akal Bunga Sahib Sultanpur Lodhi with shoes, firing, throwing tear gas shells and violation of Maryada (conduct), and it was said that a case should be registered under Section 295A IPC against all the accused  persons including Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Bhagwant Mann and the CM should immediately resign from his post as he is guilty of religious conduct.

In this meeting held at Teja Singh Samundari Hall located in the SGPC complex, several SGPC members in their addresses strongly condemned the police attack on Gurudwara Akal Bunga Sahib of Sultanpur Lodhi and asked for a strict action into this incident on the basis of the report of sub-committee formed on the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib besides approving this report also.

In a statement issued by the SGPC, The SGPC members clearly said that CM Bhagwant Mann as the Home Minister of the state is directly guilty of religious conduct, who should be criminally prosecuted and also the culprits should be exposed at all levels in the court of Sangat (community).

Keeping in view the views raised during the meeting, the SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, presented a resolution, which was unanimously approved. The resolution said that Chief Minister/Home Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann should immediately resign from his post as he is the main culprit of police firing and violation of Maryada (conduct) in Gurdwara Sri Akal Bunga Sahib Sultan Lodhi. A criminal case should be registered under Section 295A IPC against every accused person of the Gurdwara Sahib incident in Sultanpur Lodhi including the CM. In a resolution, it was also said that a delegation of the SGPC will meet the Governor of Punjab to seek action against the CM Mann. The meeting decided that if the government does not take action, the SGPC will take legal action and bring the accused to book. Along with this, it was also decided to draw a next strategy against the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab by calling a large gathering of representatives of various organizations and Sangat.

On this occasion, the Punjab government was warned for allegedly patronaging Dera Sirsa Sauda Sadh Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is the main culprit of the incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and serving sentence in the cases of rapes and murders. It was said that the government should stop attempts by Dera Sirsa to open a Dera in Doaba area of Punjab. If the government adopts a negligent attitude, the responsibility of the circumstances will be of the government. The assembly said in strict terms that the Punjab government should not sympathize with Ram Rahim, the accused of Bargari sacrilege and arrest him.

During the meeting, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the SGPC has a very clear policy against the culprits in any sacrilege case while some mischievous people are raising unnecessary questions by linking the Sultanpur Lodhi incident with the Bargari incident. He said that even in the Bargari case, during the 2021 general meeting of the SGPC, stern action has been demanded against the accused persons by passing a resolution condemning the crimes. He said that no one should be spared from any sacrilege incident. He said that by promising justice in sacrilege cases and doing politics on the same, many parties have formed their governments, but so far they have not been able to give any decisive results.

On this occasion, head granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib and Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Sultan Singh and a large number of SGPC members were also present.
