Chandigarh: A delegation of senior officials from the Chandigarh Beopar Mandal the city’s premier merchant welfare organization, met with the newly appointed Chief Secretary of Chandigarh, H. Rajesh Prasad, IAS, at his office on November 12. The purpose of the meeting was to welcome the officer and raise the key issues facing merchants.
Chandigarh Beoapar Mandal President Sanjeev Chadha presented a bouquet to the Chief Secretary, highlighting the organization’s role as the sole representative organization of the city’s business community. He demanded the prompt implementation of a One Time Settlement scheme for old VAT cases and necessary amendments to building bylaws.
Citing the recent unfortunate death of an elderly petitioner during the hearing, Sanjeev Chadha demanded that video conferencing facility be made available to senior citizens to plead their cases and timely decisions be ensured.
Chandigarh Beopar Mandal Chairman Chiranjiv Singh presented a memorandum urging the government to declare the city’s commercial properties freehold instead of leasehold.
