Cheat  immigration agent  posing as haryana Chief Secretary arrested in alleged Rs 35 crore frauds

Mohali police arrested a cheat immigration agent posing himself as Chief Secretary of Haryana state government usually traveling in luxury vehicles alongwith gunmen along with his two companions allegedly frauded a arge number of people amount worth Rs 35 crores. The prime accused identified as Sarabjit Singh Sandhu (28) defrauded nearly 300 visas mostly in Punjab promising them lto settle abroad. also  duping people as a senior Haryana bureaucrat. He was running a fake racket along with two companions identified as Rahul (35) a resident of  Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh and Ravi Mishra (27) originally hailing from Chhapra in Bihar state. Mohali senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sandeep Garg while addressing media said the prime accused Sarabjit Singh Sandhu hails from Achint Kot near Attari, Amritsar, is estimated to have defrauded nearly 300 visa aspirants in Punjab.

Mohali police out of the nearly 300 victims have traced about over 100 people and recovered as many as 60 fake passports having fake visa stamps. Among the victims are nearly 15 genuine immigration agents who were also duped by Sandhu, also a qualified business management graduate. Sandhu’s accomplice Rahul, an MBA in finance used to arrange fake visas and deal bank accounts for Sandhu in Delhi, Karnataka and other states, whereas his other accomplice Ravi  Mishra was a science graduate presently residing in Sector 18, Gurugram both are also presently in police custody. Preliminary investigation reveals that out of the total money earned in frauds Sandhu was keeping 70%, while the remaining amount was being shared between Rahul and Ravi. Sandhu was operating two offices in Mohali in Sector 82 and another at Dera Bassi, besides also running a pub in which Sandhu had invested an amount worth Rs 70 lakh.

According to Mohali police information, Sandhu was in fraud business since 2015 and was fond of luxury cars with armed security guards and he used to keep fake identity cards to project himself as a high-ranking government as well as police officer, also  beacons creating the illusion of a VIP vehicle. He had  having ta otal number of five Vidhan Sabha stickers and a VIP pass to ensure smooth entry to the Punjab and Haryana Vidhan Sabha which were recovered by the police from his possession. Dr Sandeep Garg SSP Mohali told media persons that in view of increasing cases of immigration frauds, DGP Punjab had started a drive against unregistered immigration as well as fake travel agents running fraud business without having a license from the government led by Amandeep Singh Brar SP, Gursher Singh Sandhu DSP, CIA Inspector Shiv Kumar who arrested the accused Sarabjit Singh Sandhu and his companions in fraud business on a information allegedly involved in corrupt practices and cheating money and in case of the demand of refund used to threaten them.

According to SSP Mohali, police have also recovered Rs 50.40 lakh cash, 99 gm gold, a rifle, a pistol, wireless sets, red/blue beacons, fake police and home secretary ID cards, high-ranking government officials’ flags, uniforms, international driving licences, passports and visas. several fake documents, two Toyota Fortuners, two Ford Endeavours, one Hyundai Creta and one Maruti Suzuki Swift seized by police. Information also revealed that Sandhu is already facing multiple cases of cheating in Moga, Amritsar, Sangrur and Gurdaspur police stations. He has been declared a proclaimed offender in a case registered at Sangrur falsely claiming to own a company in the USA named as Sandhu Transport to arrange visas for both US and Canada. Believing his claims, the immigration agents would send their clients to Sandhu in exchange for commission. Dr Sandeep Garg SSP Mohali talking to the media persons said to tackle fast increasing immigration frauds, SSP Garg said police have registered as many as 55 immigration fraud cases in the past three months against fake travel agents, who collectively committed a fraud of  amount worth Rs 20 crores.
