Palwal: Civil surgeon of district civil hospital in Palwal (Haryana), Jai Bhagwan Jatan was arrested while accepting bribe. He was accused of threatening to close a recently opened private hospital and demanding a bribe of Rs 15 lakh. The victim hospital operator had already paid Rs 3 lakh. Gurugram vigilance team raided and caught him red handed while accepting another instalment of bribe amount of Rs 1 lakh demanding the remaining amount. The Gurugram Vigilance team raided the District Civil Hospital premises at around 11 pm on Thursday night and arrested the District Civil Surgeon Jai Bhagwan Jatan red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. Along with this, during search cash worth Rs 3 lakh was recovered from the cupboard of the Civil Surgeon by vigilance team.
According to the complainant, he had told the bureau that he, along with Manohar, Dheeraj and Subhash had been running Sunrise Trauma Hospital in Palwal for the last three months. But CMO Dr Jai Bhagwan was threatening to shut it down citing alleged deficiencies in his hospital, and had demanded a bribe of Rs 15 lakh so that he could give a share to his senior officials as well. The complainant said that about 20 days ago he had given Rs 6 lakh in cash to Jai Bhagwan and Rs 1 lakh on July 2. Despite this, the CMO was demanding the balance of Rs 8 lakh, out of which the complainant could arrange only Rs 1 lakh.
Based on this complaint, the Bureau team laid a trap on Thursday night and arrested CMO Jai Bhagwan red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. After the arrest, a search of his official residence was also held by the team, in which the recovery of Rs 3 lakh in cash was also collected from the cupboard of the alleged accused. A case was registered against the CMO at Police Station State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Faridabad under Section 7 PC Act and 308(2) of Indian Justice Code, 2023.
