SMART & Automated Drive-in Cinemas in offing

Mumbai: “SMART Cinemas” are coming up in India through Connplex Cinemas Limited, an entertainment company, which is bringing out its IPO of 51,00,000 equity shares priced at Rs 168 to Rs 177 per share – aggregating to Rs 90.27 crores – with the anchor portion opening on August 6, 2025 and closing on August 11, 2025.

The Net proceeds from the IPO will be utilized for capital expenditure including purchase of corporate office, LED screens, and projectors, working capital requirements and general corporate expenses.

For the period ended March 31, 2025, the Company reported Revenue of Rs 9,560.96 lakhs, EBITDA of Rs 2,627.56 lakhs, and PAT of Rs 1,900.99 lakhs.

Describing Connplex Cinemas going public as a “milestone” in its next development phase, Anish Tulshibai Patel, Managing Director, said that the Company is focusing on ‘revolutionizing’ the cinema industry with luxury, while redefining cinema experience for the audience by making it more engaging and accessible.

“We plan to invest in hi-quality infrastructure while expanding our footprint across both urban and emerging markets including Tier II, III and IV cities alongside Tier I and metro cities,” he said, adding that besides collaborations with film-makers and studios, focus is also on providing space for corporate events and private screening to maximize revenue streams and audience reach.

Rahul Kamleshbhai Dhyani, Joint Managing Director, said the Company specializes in developing cinema set-up, franchise agreements, film exhibition and distribution, and generating revenue from screening movies, food and beverages sales, advertising.

“We distinguish ourselves with customer-centric designs and innovation through boutique-style cinemas, digital platforms and advanced technologies in strategic locations and upscale environments,” he added.

“New India seeks good things and is ready to pay the price,” he said, noting that while AI technology also is being used for monitoring audience experiences, ‘Spectra X’ usage is highlighting LED screens presently in Baroda.

Replying to questions, he said “SMART Drive-In” cinemas are also in the offing with automated ticketing, besides its present cinemas having free parking and valet parking.
