CPIL, TIME Technoplast tie up to market ‘blast-proof’ LPG cylinders

Confidence Petroleum India Limited (CPIL) and TIME Technoplast here today jointly announced their “Cooperation Agreement” in promoting their revolutionary GoGas Elite composite ‘Blast-Proof’ LPG cylinders across India. These LPG cylinders, which are also “light-weight, rust-proof and translucent composite,” will be now available throughout India also through App-based, time-bound delivery on 24/7 basis, according to Nitin Khara, CMD, Confidence Group.

The ‘GoGas Elite’ cylinders — manufactured by Time Technoplast Ltd to weigh less than the conventional cylinders and having translucency to allow viewing of LPG level within — were launched several months back in 2018 and will cater to the 45 crore LPG consumer market in India, Khara said, adding that the cylinders will be sold in several sizes to contain two kgs, 5kgs and 20 kgs LPG.

The Confidence Group has 178 LPG dispensing stations in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Telengana, besides 15 manufacturing units with capacity of 5 million cylinder units per year and 58 bottling plants across 22 states in India.

Replying to questions, Khara said the benefit to consumers lay in the composite cylinder’s light weight and its blast-proof body. “The introduction of composite blastproof cylinders is necessary for prevention of LPG cylinder blast and around 90% of such victims are usually women and children. Prevention of LPG cylinder blasts is necessary as there are areas where even fire brigades cannot enter to put out such fires,” he said.

Emphasizing ‘App-based’ LPG cylinder deliveries within one hour, he said the composite cylinder’s cost is Rs 1800 deposit per cylinder (and Rs 150 for the regulator) with LPG price same as BPCL and HPCL in the market. While there is no subsidy at present, the company has applied to the Government for the same and is hopeful of obtaining this subsidy through it for consumers soon, he said.

Anil Jain, MD/CEO, Time Technoplast Limited, said the company has introduced the ‘Litesafe’ Composite cylinders with approval not only in India but also in 58 countries, after obtaining the composite, blastproofing manufacturing technology from Russia earlier and setting up its manufacturing facility in India. “We have the technology to fit these cylinders in vehicles including rickshaws, and we are in the process of getting the necessary approvals for the same. Also, where there is lack of street space, even roadside cooking vendors can benefit from using our smaller composite cylinders in the two kgs size,” he said.
