‘Drug-free India’ campaign launched in Haryana

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in association with the founder of Art of Living Shri Shri Ravshankar launched ‘Drug-free India’ campaign at Guru Jambheshwar Science & Technical University Hisar.

At the event, nearly 20000 youths from educational institutes took oath not to use drugs.

Khattar said the campaign would bring awareness about ill effects due to use of drugs among youths across the state.

Prime Minister Narender Modi also conveyed message to youths through video conference on this occasion that powers encouraging terrorism in the country are directly or indirectly involved in drug business pushing youths in drug addiction.

Khattar said that stern steps are being taken introduce strict laws against the traitors running networks involved in drugs smuggling business in Haryana state.

He said special task force was constituted in the state in January 2018 projected satisfactory results and seized huge quantity of drugs during the year.

Shri Shri Ravishankar in his address said that under the influence of drugs youths are indulged in criminal activities.

He said youths in Punjab and Haryana known across the country are worst affected by drugs in past few years and drug de-addiction centres have been opened in Haryana state to get rid of youths indulged in drugs addiction.

Sources said that amount earned in smuggling drugs is being used for purchase of arms and ammunition for the terrorists in the country.

GRP Rohtak in Haryana on February 18, 2019, arrested a youth identified as Aarif Ahmed Daar a resident of Pulwama in Kashmir, carrying 340 drug injections at the railway station and remanded to police custody for two days.

Investigations revealed that the arrested youth was having close links with a dreaded terrorist Tonsi in Kashmir valley killed during encounter with Indian army on February 19, 2016 at Badgaon in Kashmir.

According to DK Setia, GRP SP Haryana, police suspects the arrested youth Aarif Ahmad Daar resident of Pulwama must be having close links with human bomb attack accused Aadil Ahmed Daar involved in recent killing of 40 CRP men at Pulwama.
