Females unsafe, 355 rapes, 500 sexual attacks cases registered

According to police records, 355 rape cases, nearly cases of 500 sexual attack on women  were registered  at various police stations in Ambala police range comprising of Ambala, Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra districts during year 2019-20 and most of the accused involved in these cases were arrested by the police and sent behind bars. According to police information, six cases are yet being investigated by the police being a challenge to police.

Information reveals, crime against women are constantly on rise this year in-spite of the fact women police stations set up by the state government in every district are providing relief to victims. In cases of family disputes and dowry demand cases on an average nearly ten cases are registered with the police every day in every district, which were earlier registered as normal complaints at the police stations under section 1091 and now such sexual molestation cases are registered at women police stations and investigated by female police staff in a separate room, victims are medically examined at the civil hospital and her statement recorded under section164 before a magistrate.

According to police record, during year 2019-20, as many as 95 rape cases and 125 cases of sexual attack were registered in Ambala district during the year 2020, 155 cases of rape and   166 cases of sexual attack registered in Yamunanagar district during the year and 105 rape cases and 209 cases of  sexual attack were registered during the year in Kurukshetra district.

During year 2020, police registered large number of kidnapping cases recorded as 107 in Ambala district, of them 78 victim females were traced by the police and 29 cases are yet lying untraced.  Police information reveals, among those reported missing in Ambala district and cases under section 346 IPC were registered by the police, nearly 294 cases have been solved by the police and investigation in remaining 85 cases is still going on.
