Financial irregularities to the tune of Rs. 1 crore appears in SGPC Community kitchen

Amritsar: Financial irregularities to the tune of RS. 1 crore appeared in light in the community kitchen of the Golden Temple which is being run by SGPC.

According to SGPC sources, the financial irregularities in the community kitchen of SGPC around Rs. 1 crore was traced out by the account section. Taking swift action SGPC have suspended two of its employees for this alleged financial embezzlement and ordered a high level probe.

Talking to FW Satbir Singh OSD to SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami confirmed that two storekeepers of Community kitchen were suspended who were responsible for not depositing the amount in the SGPC account after selling the waste material.  He said that the store keepers of community kitchen who were accountable to dispose of waste materials of LANGAR  i.e. stale chapatis, stale rice and other eatable material to industrial units which make food products for cows and buffalos. The money collected after selling the stale food should have been deposited in the SGPC account but was never deposited from 2019 to 2022. He said it would be difficult to pinpoint the accurate amount which was not deposited in the SGPC account by two errant storekeepers as things to be appeared in the enquiry report.

He said that a high level probe was underway for the last one month and shortly the final report to be submitted by the enquiry officer to SGPC office.
