Gurugram: The crime branch of Gurgaon police has arrested four persons, including a brother and sister, from Ludhiana who used to go to Cambodia and Laos and commit cyber fraud for people of Chinese and Pakistani origin. All of them had returned to India after raids were conducted on their fake call centers abroad. These four have been identified as Hemant, Ritika alias Riti, Prachi alias Pari and Sejal, all residents of Ludhiana. During police interrogation of the accused, it was found that Ritika and Hemant are brother and sister. Information revealed that both Ritika and Hemant have another sister Meenakshi also who went to Cambodia in the year 2023 with a Pakistani friend, and she also started doing cyber fraud by digitally arresting people by posing as employees and officers of fake CBI, TRAI, ED etc. departments through call centers. In July 2024, Meenakshi first called Hemant and then after a few days Ritika also went to Cambodia and all of them started doing cyber fraud by digitally arresting people.

At the same time, Prachi alias Pari, involved in the case, a friend of accused Ritika and Shiva accused arrested earlier by the police. After talking to Ritika, Prachi, accused Shiva and Shiva’s brother Manav’s wife Sejal also went to Cambodia in August 2024 and all of them together started committing cyber fraud by making digital arrests through call centers operated by people of Chinese and Pakistani origin. In January 2025, all of them came to India due to a police raid on the call centre. In March 2025, a Pakistani friend of accused Shiva told that one of his friends runs a call centre in Laos and does cyber fraud, if you go to him will help them, then accused Shiva, Prachi and Sejal went to Laos and met Charlie and Noman who were running a call centre for cyber fraud. They also joined hands with them and started cyber fraud with people by doing investment fraud again. After that, when they came to India on 14 August 2025, the above accused were arrested with the information and technical assistance collected by Gurgaon Police recovered four passports and four mobiles from their possession.
Cyber police took action on a complaint received on May 14 to Cyber Thana West Police and told that he had received a call from a person who told him that his number was being used for illegal activities. The accused had threatened him of a case being registered against him and an arrest warrant and talked about digital arrest by making a video call with the alleged policemen. The accused also got lakhs of rupees transferred by intimidating him. Taking action in this case, the police have now arrested a total of 13 accused including the above accused. The police are now investigating the matter.
