Government departments among top 20 defaulters of Municipal Corporation Ambala

AMBALA: Haryana government always advise others to pay taxes to the government timely but themselves are one of major defaulters in twin city Ambala. Recently, Municipal Corporation Ambala City(MCA) released a list of top 20 property tax defaulters in Ambala city, which include most of government departments and educational institutes in-spite of several reminders not depositing the amount of tax since past many years and now MCA has sent them final notices to take stern action against these government departments and seal the premises of such defaulters.

According to major tax defaulters include District Jail Complex ranking at the first position among defaulters to pay amount worth over Rs 2.32 crore pending against them, followed by Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) colony situated on Ambala-Chandigarh highway defaulter for amount worth about Rs 1.68 crore and among the third highest defaulters include Patiala House  to pay amount of tax worth Rs 1.09 crore.

Similarly, property tax amount worth Rs 79.13 lakh is pending against 66 KV HVPN Electric Sub Station Nayagaon, Rs 56.42 lakh pending against DAV College Ambala City, Rs 52.88 lakh pending against GRSD School Ambala City, Rs 38.34 lakh pending against Police Lines Ambala City, Rs 37.96 lakh pending against Central Jail Ambala City, Rs 36.97 lakh pending against Electronic Complex Spatu Raoa Ambala City,  Rs 35.67 lakh pending against wholesale cloth market Ambala City, Rs 36.96 lakh pnding against  Mission Hospital Ambala City, Rs 35.54 lakh pending against NHVPN Chandigarh Road Ambala City, Rs 33.13 lakh pending against Thakur Dwara Complex Ambala City, Rs 30.79 lakh pending against Old Session Courts Ambala City, Rs R 29.62 lakh pending against Agricultural Department Ambala City, Rs 28.90 lakh pending against Saini High School & Saini Bhavan Ambala City, Rs 27.98 lakh pending against Ambala Club functioning under district administration in Ambala City, Rs 27.65 lakh pending against  Mini Secretariat in courts complex Ambala City and Rs 27.67 lakh pending against Irrigation Department near Model Town Ambala City.

Information reveals , the number of tax defaulters in Municipal Committee area in Ambala Cantt is much higher as compared to Ambala City which has sent final notices to all defaulters to pay pending amount immediately failing which all these premises will be sealed by the government. Needless to say, both MCA as well as MC in twin city Ambala are facing severe financial crisis in the absence of recoveries as a result large number of developmental projects are not being completed.
