Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini flagged off trucks loaded with relief material to Punjab and Himachal due to the severe flood situation in Punjab and Himachal extending a helping hand to the suffering people. On Sunday, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini visited Mata Mansa Devi in Panchkula, bowed his head in the temple and took blessings. CM Saini prayed to the goddess for the prosperity of the country and the states. After this, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini sent vehicles filled with relief material for flood victims to Punjab and Himachal Pradesh from BJP State Office Panch Kamal Panchkula. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini sent 15 relief material vehicles to Punjab and 10 relief material vehicles to Himachal. On this occasion, former Speaker of Haryana Assembly Gian Chand Gupta and Himachal BJP President Rajiv Bindal were also present. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini while interacting with media persons said that today 15 trucks full of relief material have been dispatched from Panchkula to Punjab and 10 trucks have also been sent to Himachal Pradesh. “Such situations of natural disasters should not be politicized. It is our duty to help the people,” saini said.
On the flood situation in Haryana, the CM said that there has been a massive flood in the low-lying areas of Haryana. I am meeting people and assuring them that we will face this natural disaster together. We have given immediate relief of Rs 4 lakh to those whose houses have been damaged or whose family members have suffered casualties. Those who have been injured have also been given compensation. Talking to media Saini said Haryana has also faced flood wreaks havoc and the speed of the rivers is not subsiding, 2748 villages in the state are flooded with water. A survey revealed that heavy rainfall and overflowing of rivers have caused a flood situation in Haryana, affecting 2748 villages. Many rivers are flowing above the danger level and 27 people have lost their lives so far. Floods have damaged 10.80 lakh acres of crops in 42% of the villages.
According to information, an adverse situation had arisen in the stockyard of a vehicle showroom in Bahadurgarh due to the breakage of Mungeshpur drain in which a large number of brand new vehicles were immersed in water. Rainfall and overflowing of rivers in Haryana have caused flood situations in many areas of the state. This disaster has affected rural and urban areas, having waterlogging in many colonies in 11 cities and 72 towns disrupting normal life. Huge loss worth crores of rupees has been reported in Ambala Cantt industrial area due to over flowing Tangri rivers where six to eight feet is flowing. Similarly, 2 to 4 feet water has entered Asia’s one of the biggest wholesale cloth markets in Ambala City incurring heavy loss to the traders.
According to the warnings issued by the Meteorological Department, many rivers are flowing above the danger level. The increased water flow in the state is leading to a disaster. 27 people have died in the floods. Crops in 10.80 lakh acres in 42 percent of the villages of the state have been damaged. On Saturday, five children of Patiala’s village Chhote Aharu, who had come to see the water of Tangri river in Ambala, were swept away. Four of them were rescued, while the body of one was recovered by the SDRF team after four hours. A tractor-trolley loaded with bricks overturned on the banks of a rainy river near Dukheri village in Ambala Cantt. Four people riding in it were swept away in the river, however two of them were rescued. Life has been badly affected due to floods in various districts across the state. The water level of the Yamuna river in Faridabad and the Markanda river in Kurukshetra has crossed the danger mark. The Ghaggar river has also overflowed in Kaithal and Sirsa.
Eight minors in Hisar, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Kurukshetra and Ambala have broken due to overflow. The condition of rivers in Haryana state has been recorded as 26 thousand 889 cusecs of water in Markanda river in Shahabad of Kurukshetra district flowing at the danger mark of 256 meters. At the same time, 8 thousand cusecs of water is flowing in Tangri in Ambala. The water level of Ghaggar river at Otu head in Sirsa has increased. At the same time, the water level of Ghaggar in Kaithal has reached 23.6 feet, which is more than the danger level. The water is overflowing in most of the rivers and going into the fields causing heavy loss to crops. Information reveals, Yamuna is flowing at the danger mark in Faridabad recording 2 lakh 26 thousand 433 cusecs of water as such 12 villages are in the grip of water due to which 270 houses are still completely submerged.
