Illegal sex determination racket by father & son busted

Health department team from Ambala comprising of three doctors Vijay Verma, Balvinder Kaur and Vipin Bhandari on the direction of Dr Kuldeep Kumar CMO Ambala on a information raided an ultrasound centre involved in illegal determination of sex of unborn child in womb run by father N.S. Bawa and his son Amarpreet Bawa inside Bawa Nursing Home while checking a pregnant woman from Ambala. Both managed to slip after the raid. However, the team caught two touts Lakhvinder resident of Shivalik Colony Ambala City and Jagjit Singh resident of Sirhind in Punjab and recovered Rs 9500 from them. A case was registered against four persons. Ultrasound centre was registered in the name of Dr N.C. Bawa but his son Amarpreet Singh was operating the same illegally. Meanwhile, Dr N.K. Aggarwsal CMO Fatehgarh Sahib also reached at the spot. Raiding team sealed ultrasound machine and also took into possession CCTV camera installed in the nursing home having complete footing.

Pregnant woman arranged by the district health department had finalized deal to check the sex of unborn child she was carrying with Ambala based tout Lakhvinder Singh at Rs 30000 and paid Rs 10000 advance on March 11, 2020, balance amount to be paid at the time of determination of sex of unborn child. Lakhvinder brought pregnant woman in a car to Sirhind where another tout Jagjit Singh joined them and they proceeded to Bawa Nursing Home at Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab chased by Ambala health department team in another car. Investigation revealed that the owner of ultrasound centre Dr N.S. Bawa was father-in-law of District Health Officer sheltering illegal business. Earlier, health department team Ambala had busted a sex determination racket at Ludhina in Punjab on January 17, 2020.
