INDIA’s Seat sharing decision almost final, says Stalin’s DMK

Uncertainty about Veteran Actor Kamal Haasan

New Delhi : In the ensuing Lok Sabha election, Seat sharing between the INDIA alliance in Tamil Nadu is almost finalized. Chief Minister MK Stalin’s party DMK announced this through a statement on Thursday. According to alliance, the two left parties CPM and CPI will contest in two seats each respectively. Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and KMDK will contest one seat each. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the two left parties contested two seats each as allies of the DMK-led coalition. CPM won Coimbatore and Madurai seats. CPI won Tirupur and Nagapatnam Lok Sabha constituencies. This time, there were speculations that DMK will have give up the Coimbatore seat to Veteran Actor Kamal Haasan’s party. But after Thursday’s announcement, the talk of the town regarding uncertainty of Kamal Haasan’s fate.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Congress was one of the partner in the DMK-led nine-party alliance. The alliance won 38 of the 39 Lok Sabha seats in the Deccan state. BJP’s then ally ADMK won one seat. A few years ago, the BJP-led NDA left the ADMK. ADMK chief EK Palaniswami expelled Rabindranath, the party’s only MP, on charges of anti-party activities.
