Industry, domestic consumers suffering from frequent power cuts in Haryana

The consumption of electricity in Haryana state has become double due to summer season especially in southern part of Haryana where industry and domestic electricity consumers are suffering due to frequent power cuts. Gurugram, Panipat and Faridabad districts in the state are highest electricity consumers in the state. According to Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) comprising of two divisions in the state NHVPN meeting the demand of consumers in Northern part of state and SHVPN meeting the demand of southern part of state. Talking to media persons Ranjit Chautala Power Minister Haryana told that every effort is being made to make available regular supply of electricity to industry sector in the state. However, there are frequent power cuts being faced by domestic consumers as well in agriculture sector.

According to information, Haryana state requires nearly 6500 Mega Watt (MW) power load every day which include over 2100 MW load required by NHVPN and over 3500 MW load by SHVPN. Information reveals, Gurugram district in the state alone requires highest nearly 1250 MW load every day, whereas Narnaul district requires lowest nearly 40 MW power load in the state daily. Haryana state facing acute shortage of electricity at present since two power production units at Panipat and three power production units at Yamunanagar are lying closed.

According to Additional Chief Secretary P.K. Das Haryana has yet to procure 1424 MW electric supply from Adani group since their three power units in Gujarat having 660 MW capacity each are lying shut as well as HVPN awaiting power supply from Bhakra Beas Management Board when condition of power supply in Haryana state will improve. Das told that state government getting nearly 4800 MW electricity from outer sources to provide facilities to residents in the state. He said, Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Plant at Khedad in Hisar district has capacity to produce 600 MW electricity every day.

Information reveals, several thermal plants in the state including at Panipat, Yamumamagar and Khedad in Haryana state are producing 1784 MW electricity. According to available data, district wise daily power load consumption in districts under NHVPN has been identified as 505 MW at Panipat, 420 MW at Sonipat, 298 MW at Ambala, 276 MW at Rohtak, 261 MW at Karnal,  255 MW at Yamunanagar,  222 MW at Jhajjar, 114 MW at Kurukshetra,  and 194 MW at Kaithal. Similarly, in SHVPN daily district wise power load consumption has been identified as 1247 MW at Gurugram, 631 MW at Faridabad, 369 MW at Hisar,  255 MW at Bhiwani, 209 MW at Sirsa, 155 MW at Jind,149 MW at Palwal, 102 MW at Rewari and 40 MW at Narnaul.
