Calls for Reconstruction, Justice, and Genuine Palestinian Sovereignty

New Delhi : President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Syed Sadatullah Husaini, has welcomed the recently announced ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian resistance as a “positive and hopeful step” after months of unprecedented bloodshed in Gaza.”

In a statement to the media, Husaini said:

“We welcome this ceasefire as a long-awaited respite for the devastated people of Gaza. Yet, we affirm that peace and justice will remain incomplete without the establishment of a fully sovereign and independent Palestinian state, where its people can live with dignity, security, and freedom in their own land. The world must now ensure that this truce becomes the foundation of a comprehensive and just peace — not merely another pause before renewed devastation.”

Appreciating the brave and principled people across the world who helped make this breakthrough possible, he said:

“This war on humanity has laid bare the hypocrisy of many governments while illuminating the enduring spirit of compassion and conscience among ordinary people across the world. Their moral unease, protests, and solidarity have rekindled hope that humanity still breathes. This moral awakening must remain alive and vigilant until the people of Palestine attain their full right to live in a free, sovereign, and independent state, liberated from occupation, blockade, and fear.”

The JIH President emphasized the need for a civilian government in Gaza, as agreed in the ceasefire accord, and warned against external manipulation:

“Care must be taken to ensure that, in the name of supervision or stabilization, unwanted foreign actors are not imposed on the Palestinian people. The administration of Gaza must reflect the will and aspirations of its own citizens.”

He made a strong appeal for urgent humanitarian and reconstruction efforts, urging global action beyond symbolic gestures:

“The people of Gaza are in desperate need of food, medicine, housing, and hope. Hospitals lie in ruins, children study amid rubble, and families survive without water or power. The world cannot turn away. What is needed now is decisive, coordinated global action to rebuild homes, schools, and hospitals, and to restore life and dignity to this battered land. Every day of delay costs more innocent lives.”

Husaini praised the resilience and steadfastness of the Palestinian people, calling it a moral beacon for the entire world:

“The courage, patience, and unwavering faith of the people of Gaza have inspired the world. They have endured unimaginable suffering yet stood firm in the face of overwhelming power. Their steadfastness is not only a defence of their land but a defence of human conscience itself.”

Concluding his remarks, he said:

“We pray that this ceasefire marks the dawn of a lasting peace built on justice and equality. The people of Palestine have paid too high a price for the world’s silence; now it is time for humanity to stand firmly by them, for freedom, for truth, and for the moral survival of our age.”

He also urged the Government of India to play a principled and proactive role in post-war reconstruction, reaffirm its historic support for Palestine, and advocate for the swift establishment of a fully sovereign Palestinian state governed freely by its people and recognized by the international community.
