Leading distillery owner arrested in Haryana liquor scam

Leading liquor mafia in Haryana state Bhupinder Singh resident of Chandigarh having liquor godowns at Kharkhoda in Sonepat district involved in several cases of smuggling thousands of cases illicit liquor to several states across the country mostly in Punjab, Delhi, Bihar,  Gujarat along with police assistance during lock down period. He surrendered to Haryana police when investigation was handed over to STF constituted by the state government comprising of senior IAS, IPS and officer of excise department to submit detailed report by July 30, 2020. Bhupinder Singh along with several others including police personnel was arrested. STF identified as many as 14 police cases including seven cases registered by Panipat police in past some time and the case also handed over to Economic Crime Cell of police. According to report submitted by STF, Bhupinder Singh and his brother were procuring illicit liquor without excise permit to save excise duty from NV Distilleries at Rajpura in Punjab and their another unit at villag Badhouli in Ambala district.

Satish Kumar Vats DSP Panipat disclosed that NV Distilleries was supplying liquor without permit on the basis of fake transport receipts frequently, which were further being supplied illegally in canters containing animal feed or fruits and vegetables and police is trying to investigate where such illicit liquor was being supplied. It was how Ashok Jain owner of famous NV Distilleries at Rajpura in Punjab and in Ambala district functioning since past 12 years having annual turnover worth Rs 1360 crore was trapped in police net and arrested by Haryana police from his residence at Vandana Apartments, New Delhi on  Monday night, produced in the court at Samalkha in Panipat district and remanded to police custody for five days. Jain tried his best to avoid arrest for one reason or the other to avoid arrest on medical ground when doctors arrived at the spot identified that he was not having any health disorder. Jain contacted his legal advisor as well as few influential persons but to no result and he had to accompany police team..

On October 13 last year when Vidhan Sabha polls were going on in the state, CIA Staff of police caught a truck and seized 1180 cases illicit liquor being carried in the vehicle under 300 bags animal feed bags and arrested driver Navdeep resident of village Nisana in Sonepat district, Vijay and Tej Pal alias Nanha who during three days police remand disclose that illicit liquor was procured as usual from NV Distilleries without excise  permit for supply to liquor mafia Bupinder Singh having connection with Ashok Jain owner of NV Distilleries.. Police recovered Goods Receipt issued by Mahajan Transport Rajpura for supply of cattle feed by Kushal Cattle Feed Jalandhar despatched to Bihar. Police registered a case against Ashok Jain and Bhupinder also arrested by the police and remanded to police custody for three days.
