Maharashtra CM highlights measles vaccinations, redevelopments in State

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently announced a massive vaccination drive by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the Health Department in the Megapolis of Mumbai in a bid to prevent the outbreak of measles here.

Around 12,000 children were vaccinated by the Municipal Corporation as a preventive measure, Shinde said during his visit to patients undergoing treatment for measles and also reviewing safety measures with the concerned medical officers.

Talking to media later, he said it was assumed that lack of vaccination had caused the measles outbreak in children and therefore an alert had been sounded among the concerned health and municipal officials.

While efforts to increase the vaccination rate was on, emphasis was also being laid on the children being given vitamins to boost their immunity, besides also coordination among the entire health system in these situations, he said.

Shinde said that the Maharashtra Government is also focusing on the policy of Mumbai city being clean, beautiful and healthy, where the Dharavi slums area will be undergoing redevelopment and the near future will be witnessing such colonies taking shapes that will attract global attention.

Meanwhile, the search is on for a developer to redevelop the region, besides his Government also emphasizing on education, health, road and development of other amenities in Mumbai, he said.

The Chief Minister dedicated the +Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray Apla Dawakhana+ scheme in Mumbai through the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and assured that this scheme would be also started in the State’s rural areas. About 52 hospitals were dedicated through video-conferencing in this regard.

Maharashtra Education Minister and Guardian Minister of Mumbai city  Deepak Kesarkar, and Guardian Minister of Mumbai suburbs Mangal Prabhat Lodha were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the businesses of 60 entrepreneurs started under the “Chief Minister Employment Generation Program” by giving them the keys to their food vans and taxis.

District cooperative banks in 14 Maharashtra districts have been included in this program. While earlier it was mandatory to take loans only from nationalized banks, the Maharashtra Government has expanded the scope of this program.

Around six candidates selected through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission of the Maharashtra State Industrial Development Corporation were provided appointment letters in symbolic form.

Maharashtra will invest between Rs 30,000 and 40,000 crores to generate employment to thousands of people, State Industries Minister Uday Samant said while recently inaugurating the Maharashtra  Pavilion at the Indian International Trade Fair 2022 in Delhi — where the theme was “Vocal for Local,  Local to Global.”

Noting that the State Government will frame suitable policies and window clearances in order to boost industrial investment, Samant  also disclosed to the media the State Government’s plans to hold a  +mega-event+ in Delhi in February 2023 for which global businesspersons and industrialists would be invited.

Meanwhile, Khadi’s global popularity has begun drawing even India-based Ambassadors of other countries including Thailand’s Ms. Pattarat  Hongtong and Oman’s Mr Issa Alshibani.

The two Ambassadors  had visited the Khadi India Pavilion at IITF 2022 and also clicked selfies with the portraits of Mahatma Gandhi and Narendra Modi there, while appreciating the sheer variety of  the products and exquisite craftsmanship of Khadi artisans.
