Many Government employees are not found happy with new timings

Amritsar, May 2 – As the timings of Punjab offices changed from today (May 2), majority of the Government employees were not found happy. Now their office timings have been increased as they would not be able to off their duty till evening unless they finish the job which arises in the afternoon.

Naib Tehsildar cum executive magistrate Parmpreet Singh Gorya said, “My clerical staff is happy, since they would be able to spend more time with their families after the duty hours. Moreover, in the morning there was hardly any traffic mess found anywhere, saving the fuel expenses and timings to reach office”.

 An officer from the police department seeking anonymity said, “We are in a problem as our working hours have been enhanced.  With the changing of timing one has to reach in time in the office (duty) but can’t leave as per the new government schedule as all police officials have to perform duty till late hours as per requirement or depending upon the law and order situation”.

Another employee of District magistrate seeking anonymity said that the change of timings have increased working hours for them since most of the important jobs in the district administration appeared in the afternoon and in such circumstances one can’t leave his or her office while leaving the job pending for next day. He said that all the people working in the clerical section have to come in the office in the morning as per the new timings but can’t leave office before evening unless all the pendency is finished.
