Meeting between CM & industry entrepreneurs on job quota in Haryana

In view of protests against ordinance approved in Haryana Vidhan Sabha recently for 75% reservation in jobs to youths hailing from Haryana state in private sector in the state with effect from Labour Day on May 1, 2021 when large number of industry entrepreneurs in the state opposed the rule expressing worry that it would spell development disaster to industrial development and private investment as such Haryana government organised a meeting on job quota through digital conference at Haryana Bhawan Chandigarh on Friday in which nearly five dozen industry entrepreneurs in the state were invited and both Manohar Lal Khatter Chief Minister and Dushyant Chautala Deputy Chief Minister presided the meeting. Among those entrepreneurs present in the meeting were R.C. Bhargava Chairman Maruti Suzuki, Nikhil Nanda Chairman Escorts Limited, Nishant Arya from JBM Group,  Nirmal Midha from Minda Group and several other prominent industry entrepreneurs.

While addressing gathering, Khatter said state government is not willing to forcible implementation of approved ordinance when entrepreneurs present in the meeting demanded to roll back the rule likely to harm industry in the state when Khatter tied to convince those present in the meeting suggesting to work out a proposal mutually agreed to solve the issue beneficial for the industry as well as government in the state. The entrepreneurs said, trade and industry in Haryana passing through severe economic crisis since past over a year and most of the industrial units have either been closed down or facing sever sickness thus not prepared to bear implementation of any rule forced by the government at this stage.

Industry entrepreneurs raised a question over implementation of job quota rule approved by the state government when majority of industry in the state  is unable to get technical as well as skilled workers and employees of their choice. Khatter assured entrepreneurs that government wants to create sources of employment for unemployed youths in the stated but in no case prepared to cause inconvenience to industry entrepreneurs in the state. He agreed to revise rules in this regard that reservation in jobs will be applicable for jobs only up to the monthly salary ranging between Rs 20000 to 25000 instead of Rs 50000 per month and will not applicable in case of technical staff or skilled workers.

On the demand of industry owners, Khatter made an announcement to waive of fine and compound interest on the industrial plots allotted by HSIIDC yet not constructed due to present financial crisis along with 25% rebate on interest payable up to March 31, 2011.with reduction in amount of fine as Rs 50 per square meter instead of Rs 250 per square meter.
