Ministry of Corporate Affairs opens Regional Director and ROC office in Chandigarh

Now corporate services will get a new impetus

Chandigarh: The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Government of India, on Wednesday formally inaugurated the office of the Regional Director (Northern Region-2) and the office of the Registrar of Companies (ROC), Haryana in the city. 

The Ministry has appointed RC Mishra as the first Regional Director of Northern Region-2, Chandigarh and Sanjay Verma as the first Registrar of Companies, Haryana. Both offices have become formally functional as per the Ministry’s Office Memorandum and Gazette Notification.

The inaugural ceremony was conducted by newly appointed Regional Director (NR-2), RC Mishra. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to decentralizing corporate governance and strengthening the ease of doing business in North India.

Speaking on the occasion, Mishra stated that the establishment of the Regional Directorate in Chandigarh is an important step towards ensuring more accountable, transparent, and effective corporate governance in North India. 

He stated that the Department’s primary focus will be on timely resolution of legal matters, uniformity in regulatory interpretations, and better coordination with stakeholders across the region, including Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and the Union Territories of Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Companies and professionals will have direct access to regulatory processes, processing e-forms and required filings will be faster, and compliance monitoring will become more effective. He reiterated the commitment to promoting a solution-based compliance system.

Speaking on the occasion, Anupam Vashisht, Registrar of Companies, Punjab and Chandigarh, said that the opening of the Regional Director (NR-2) and ROC Haryana offices in Chandigarh will strengthen the Ministry’s regional structure. This will improve departmental coordination, reduce pending cases, and provide prompt and quality services to stakeholders.

The new offices will serve stakeholders in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Fast-track mergers, registered office shifting, company conversions, appeals, and other statutory approvals are expected to expedite the processing of cases.

This initiative will prove to be a historic step towards making the corporate ecosystem in North India more robust, transparent and efficient.
