Monsoon Session begins from 20 July expected to be a stormy one

New Delhi- Congress is all set to question BJP Govt. on Manipur Violence, Uniform Civil Code, Price hikes, Orissa Train accident etc in the forthcoming monsoon session. This will be the first time that the govt will face the Parliament after Manipur Violence and Orissa train accident.

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi announced on July 1, that the Monsoon session would begin from 20 July and would end on 11 August. The opposition parties have questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi many times on Manipur issue but his silence still continues. The Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said “ We hope the Govt will allow opposition to discuss All issues of concern to the people including Manipur on which PM have still maintained Silence.”

The opposition will also demand a debate on Uniform Civil Code (UCC) on which the stand of many political parties is still not clear. During the session BJP-govt is likely to bring a bill to replace the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) ordinance. The National Research Foundation Bill cleared by cabinet is also likely to be introduced. The proposed Foundation will be a new funding agency to bolster the country’s research competence in areas of Science and technology.

Meanwhile Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi has urged all parties to contribute towards productive discussions on legislative business and other items regarding the session. There will be 17 sittings in this session lasting 23 days, Joshi said.
