More than 14.29 lakh families in Haryana above poverty line, 4.50 % decline: Khattar

Chandigarh : Haryana’s poverty rate was 11.88 percent in 2015-16, which came down to 7.07 percent in 2019-21, which is a decrease of more than four and half percent. Haryana Chief Minister  Manohar Lal Khattar said that when we took over the reins of the government in 2014, the poverty rate of Haryana in 2015-16 was estimated at 11.88 percent. But as a result of the positive efforts of our government, this rate came down to 7.07 percent in 2019-21, which is a drastic decrease. Thus, 14,29,341 families have come above the poverty line in Haryana. The Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said.

CM said that the economic limit of poverty line across the country is Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand, whereas in Haryana we have increased this limit to Rs 1 lakh 80 thousand, so that more and more people get various benefits including ration card, Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Information reveals that in past nine years Haryana state government increased BPL limit from Rs 1.20 to Rs 1.80 lakh so that they may get benefits of different government schemes enabling them to ger ration cards and free medical aid under Ayushman Bharat Yozna, which have now been further increased to Rs 3 lakh. Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme the eligible families may get free medical aid in 715 hospitals in the state which include  539 private hospitals and 176 government hospitals thus over one crore families in the state are getting benefits in this scheme.
CM Khattar said that when BJP government came to power in Haryana state in 2014 the poverty rate in the state was 11.88% which due to government efforts reduced to 7.07 % in 2019-21 witnessed decline by nearly 4.5%. He said, there is also improvement in  collection of taxes and Haryana state ranks first position in collection of GST able, to get Rs 34186 per capita, which was identified as Rs 19,652 crore in October 2022 which was increased to Rs 23,841 crore in October 2023 thus witnessing nearly 21% increase.

Khattar said that the unemployment rate in Haryana state has dropped to 5.2% as against the National level of 6.6%. He said efforts are being made by the government to further reduce unemployment in the state. He disclosed that according to PLFS report unemployment in neighbouring states has been recorded as 8% in Punjab state, 14.5% in Himachal Pradesh and 12% in Delhi state, as such the unployment situation in Haryana state is not bad as compared to other adjoining state as being constantly claimed by Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda that according to Niti Aayog Haryana facing 9% unemployment.
