Panchkula: Haryana Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini while addressing state-level security conference on ‘Viksit Bharat – Security Dimensions’ appreciated police role beyond crime control and building public trust and sense of security. He said that effective policing is not confined to crime control alone, underlining that policing is equally about building public confidence by ensuring a sense of security, trust and faith among citizens. CM Saini said that public trust remains the biggest strength of any democracy and it must be the topmost priority of the police. Saini said the state government believes that sustained development is possible only when the law and order situation remains strong, fair and impartial. He further said and stressed that the success of major initiatives in investment, industry, education, health and social development is directly linked to the efficiency, integrity and professionalism of the police force in the state.
Referring to the police officers Saini stated that they are not only the custodians of law and order but also the strong foundation of good governance and social stability in the state. He said sustained development is only possible when law and order is maintained and the success of all major developmental initiatives is directly linked to the competence and efficiency of the police force responsible for the security and justice to citizens, which need dedication and discipline of every jawan and officer of the Haryana Police working round the clock . The Chief Minister also issued directions for the installation of CCTV cameras at crime-sensitive regions across the state, as well as emphasising the need for smart-policing using technological tools.
Dr Sumita Misra, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, congratulated the CM on his historic announcement to increase the representation of women police personnel in the state from 15 percent to 25 percent. The recruitment process for 5,750 police personnel, including 1500 women, is currently in progress, she said. On the launch of ‘Operation Hotspot Domination’ in the state, Saini said more than 2,000 criminals were arrested within 12 days. Haryana Police has been very successful against inter-state gangs, drug traffickers and cybercriminals. He added ‘Operation Track Down’ has also had a deterrent effect on criminals, in which 7,587 criminals were sent to jail and illegal property worth Rs 168 crore was seized in 23 days. CM Saini said, all of the 108 recommendations made by DG/IGs in the state of the previous year have been successfully implemented, and 107 new recommendations made this year are expected to be completed within this year.
