Most wanted drugs smuggler ‘Cheeta’ working for terroriss arrested

In a joint operation by NIA, Punjab and Haryana police arrested most wanted international drug smuggler also involved in funding commander of terrorist group Hizabul Muzahideen to spread terrorism in Jammu-Kashmir Ranjit Singh alias Cheeta and his brother also involved in drugs smuggling Gagandeep Singh alias ‘Shera’ both residents of village Havelian in Amritsar district presently residing in a rental house at Sirsa.  Dr Arun Nehra DIG police told that Cheeta was wanted in several  cases including smuggling 532 kg heroine from Afghanistan via Pakistan seized by police at Wagha border on June30, 2019 and police was trying for his arrest since then but Cheeta left Amritsar along with his brother Gagandeep and presently hiding at Sirsa in Haryana state. Cheeta was also arrested earler while smuggling 5 kg heroine and was sentenced 12 years imprisonment and released from jail.

According to information, Cheeta was first arrested by Amritsar police  in liquor smuggling case 20 years ago in May 2004, followed by another case registered against him in May 2007 in a fake currency case and there after in a case registered against him under Arms Act allegedly having a 30 bore pistol.  Dr Nehra told that Cheeta and his brother had to sell 532 kg heroine smuggled from Afghanistan and deliver money to terrorist group for purchase of arms and create terrorism in Jammu-Kashmir since he was having links with terrorists.through his cousin brother Vikram Singh. Cheeta told that they are six brother and two of them are undergoing imprisonment in jail and two others also involved in drug smuggling in Punjab.
