Gurugram: Two drug peddlers were arrested by police on Saturday with narcotics of value worth around Rs 50 lakh in Gurugram while transporting ‘charas’ in a car. A total of 1 kg 361 gram of ‘charas’, Rs 7 lakh in cash and a car were seized from their possession. According to police, the accused were transporting the narcotics from Manali to Gurugram. A case has been registered at the Manesar police station. Acting on a tip-off, the Palam Vihar Crime Branch received information that a consignment of ‘charas’ was being brought for supply near Pachgaon in the Manesar area. The team set up a trap, blocked the road and intercepted a car carrying two men including the driver. During searching the vehicle, the police recovered drugs and cash. Both occupants were taken into custody on the spot who were identified as Rajesh (48) a resident of Mohalla Balbhadra Sarai and Mukesh (38) a resident of Saini Mohalla Kutubpur from Rewari district. During interrogation, police found that Rajesh works as a taxi driver in Rewari, while Mukesh is involved in trading spare parts from Delhi and selling in Gurugram and surrounding areas. Preliminary investigation revealed that both were arrested for allegedly smuggling drugs from Himachal Pradesh’s Manali and supplying drugs in the area. A police officer said that the car was also impounded following the recovery. An FIR has been registered at Manesar police station and further investigation is underway.
Tohana police in Haryana during a raid, arrested mother-daughter, from whom about 17 kg 760 grams of ‘hashish’ of value worth rupees 25 lakhs recovered. Tohana DSP Umed Singh told the media persons that he had received secret information during the special search operation being conducted by the district police that a mother and daughter are involved in the illegal sale of drugs in Tohana’s Baba Buta Colony. Acting on this, the Tohana police station team raided the area and caught both the women red-handed. During the search of the house, 17 kg 760 grams of hashish was recovered. DSP said, Police has registered a case against both the women under the sections of NDPS Act and investigation is going on. Police are also trying to find out whether this is a big network, which remained active even after the arrest of other family members. DSP Umed Singh said that the district police is working on ‘zero tolerance policy’ against illegal drug trade and the campaign against such criminals will continue.
