Chandigarh: Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Anil Vij strongly criticized the Congress party, stating that “No one has harmed the country as much as Indira Gandhi did during her time in power.” Responding to the opposition’s demand for a special session post-ceasefire, he said that “If there are secret matters, they cannot be disclosed there.” Regarding the meeting between the DGMOs (Director Generals of Military Operations) of India and Pakistan, he said that “Only a ceasefire has taken place, the war has not ended.” Vij was interacting with Media persons today. Commenting on the posters put up by Congress, Anil Vij reiterated that “No one caused more harm to the country than Indira Gandhi during her prime ministership. Never mind the Emergency she imposed, but she can never be forgiven for the Shimla Agreement.” He added that “We should have demanded our PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir) be returned, which would have ended the war outright.”

Vij recalled that “At that time, we had captured 13,000 acres of land – that too was returned for free. We had 93,000 prisoners of war; there could not have been a better opportunity. Yet, the battle won by our army was lost by Indira Gandhi on the negotiation table.” When asked about the opposition’s demand for a special session after the ceasefire, he questioned that “What will they do by convening a session? It’s their right, of course, but can we really disclose these secret matters there, about what happened where?”

Vij said only a ceasefire has happened, the war is not over yet. On the DGMOs’ meeting between India and Pakistan, he said that “This is not just Pakistan, it is Na-Pakistan (Impure Pakistan). Only a ceasefire has taken place, the war is not over. The armies are still on the borders, not in their barracks. A war ends only when troops return to their barracks.” He added that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message is clear – if you shoot bullets, we’ll fire shells. This cannot be considered an end to the war. It’s merely a status quo: stay where you are. Pakistan has now witnessed India’s strength.”

On the water-sharing issue between Haryana and Punjab, now in court, and Bhagwant Mann’s comments, Vij stated that “If the matter is in court, Sh. Mann should speak in court, we will respond there. He’s accusing us of stealing water without evidence. If someone sits at home and makes accusations, at least present facts – where did the theft happen?”  On the water-sharing issue between Haryana and Punjab, now in court, and Bhagwant Mann’s comments, Vij stated that “If the matter is in court, Sh. Bhagwant Singh Mann) are working against Punjab’s culture, which has always been about organizing chhabils (offering sweetened water to the public). Vij said the Punjab Government) are snatching away our (Haryana’s) rights.

Criticizing Congress further, Vij said that “Not all war-related matters are leaked. Only the ones that cause no harm are disclosed. Congress people do not understand warfare. Even in the army, sometimes the soldier beside you does not know which missile will be fired and where – because that’s part of battle strategy.” Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Vij strongly criticized the Congress party once again , stating that “No one has harmed the country as much as Indira Gandhi did during her time in power. She can never be forgiven for the Shimla Agreement”
