Normalcy begin to return in the border districts of Punjab

Amritsar: With the opening of all educational institutions in the bordering districts of Amritsar and Tarn Taran, normalcy began to return as all the schools including Government and private were witnessed with full strength of students.

Students as well as parents were happy with the reopening of schools in the border districts. The  same state of affairs was also  seen in the Guru Nanak Dev University here.

One of the biggest Gold market in Amritsar located in the walled city known as “Guru Bazar” where heavy footfall of buyers and sellers were also witnessed inspite of rising price of Gold nearly Rs. 96000 for 10 grams, said Gold smith Chanchal Singh.

Katra Jaimal Singh, known for the market of ladies suits, also noticed with normal footfalls of buyers as people started to throng there for wedding buying, said Rajinder Arora, a cloth merchant.

Small hotels and guest house owners around the Golden Temple also hoped for fresh  room booking as today a normal crowd of devotees was found inspite of scorching  heat in the holy city of Golden Temple, says Manish Kumar a hotel owner.

All the educational institutions in the border district of Punjab remained shut for nearly a week following  military standoff between India and Pakistan.  On Tuesday, the State Government issued orders for the opening of schools and colleges as night blackouts exempted  as people were asked to remain indoors after 8.30 p.m  with no illumination  outside the house.

The busy and plush market Hall bazar , the hub of electronic area also remained open where a crowd of  buyers were seen happily buying new articles and gadgets  for  marriage functions. Since people were earlier hesitant to buy new things for the marriage occasion due to the panic atmosphere in the border district due to night movement of drones across the border, said Harmeet Singh owner of Electric Centre Hall Bazar.

Vallah, the wholesale market for fruit and vegetables, was also noticed with a heavy crowd of buyers and there was no panic among people who were in a  relaxed mood, says Mahesh Kumar, wholesale trader for fruit and vegetables in the Vllah fruit market.
